it’s tuesday, july 14, moon is in cancer, in the starspace called punarvasu until midday then puṣya, it’s the first phase of the waxing moon & mars’ day.

where your attention is being drawn

cancer is the sign of the divine mother, of the highest feminine qualities, like unconditional love. & guess what? we contain multitudes, including multitudes of gender: biological women are 49 percent male & biological males are 49 percent female—there’s only a 2 percent difference between XX & XY. we are, basically, the same.

“i am the poet of the woman the same as the man, / & i say it is as great to be a woman as to be a man, / & i say there is nothing greater than the mother of men.”—walt whitman, leaves of grass

buddhists say we have all been each other’s mothers. don’t think about the math, just feel into it, feel your greatness, whether you identify as a man or woman or whatever.

how to direct your mental/emotional energy

both punarvasu & puṣya bring nourishment—punarvasu from aditi, the urmother, who nourishes us with a sense of limitlessness, of limitless possibility; pusya from brihaspati, the urpriest, who nourishes us with wisdom.

if you’re not sure what you’re nourishing, how you feel nourished, look at what you’ve created, look at how you be, & if you need to adjust what you consume, get on it.

what supports you emotionally

on the first lunar day (tithi), the first phase of the waxing moon, when the moon is still dark as dark, we just might be able to catch the light of a star in the distance—even in the darkest night stars do shine, &, in fact, it’s in the darkest dark that we can see them.

what does that glimmer of light mean to you?

how to align with the weekday’s energy

tuesday is ruled by mars, who is strength, righteous action, courage & disciplined use of power personified. he is kartikeya, shiva & parvati’s first-born son (ganesha’s older bro), the precocious & victorious general of the divine army. he rode (like a horse) a peacock & carried a spear. peacocks eat poisonous insects, plants & snakes, whose toxins produce their iridescent plumage. kartikeya’s spear represents wisdom with which he can (we can!) pierce ignorance & ego.

what toxins might you transform into splendor? what ignorance, what limiting beliefs, negative qualities might you pierce through their heart?

where today’s headwind is coming from

ok, this is my newest, favoritist, funnest aspect of jyotish, &, like all things jyotish, it is very personal to your specific chart, so it may resonate, may not. but … if you feel like you are facing a headwind, are feeling physically or emotionally or otherwise obstructed/challenged, try facing west or northwest & you just might catch a tailwind.

what’s the best that could happen if you just tried shifting direction?

🌑🙏✨

the daily bliss is 100% human generated! the act of creation is intrinsic to being human—when we give up our agency to create, we cease, little by little, to be fully human.

may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little (or a lot!) more bliss in your life.
