it’s monday, january 26, & moon is in aries, in the starspace called bharaṇī. aries is the first sign of the natural zodiac, where we are born, where we begin life. it’s where we are invited to feel into being reborn, beginning again every month, making fresh strides toward living our richest lives, being our most authentic selves & not caring what anyone else thinks. which is a risk, yes, but no risk = no growth.

“perhaps the art of harvesting the secret riches of our lives is best achieved when we place profound trust in the act of beginning. risk might be our greatest ally. to live a truly creative life, we always need to cast a critical look at where we presently are, attempting always to discern where we have become stagnant & where new beginning might be ripening. there can be no growth if we do not remain open & vulnerable to what is new & different. i have never seen anyone take a risk for growth that was not rewarded a thousand times over.”—john o’donohue

bharaṇī is ruled by yama, the god of death—yikes! all the yogis out there will have heard of the yamas, which are sometimes referred to as restraints, but i think of as guidance, a tip sheet for living a dharmic life—yama is, after all, also the lord of dharma.

in verse 30, chapter 2 of the yoga sutra, patanjali tells us what the five yamas are: doing no harm, telling the truth, not stealing, using our energy to go high & not being greedy.

when we fall out of alignment with our dharma, there are consequences to deal with. it’s part of the process—taking a wrong turn helps us get back on track. no big deal—unless we need to make amends. which is also no big deal—taking responsibility for our actions is how we grow.

it’s the eighth lunar day (tithi), the eighth phase of the waxing moon, until almost 9 a.m. MST, then the ninth. let’s just say the eighth tithi (how’s it been going since yesterday?) is a half & half kinda day, half bright, half dark, while the ninth, with its serpent energy, hews toward our darkness, toward our shadow (even tho the moon is growing brighter—whaaaa?!). the ninth supports us in, like serpents, extracting the wisdom, the nuggets of truth, from our innermost depths. we may feel less social as a result, to be as solitary as a snake—no big deal!

monday is ruled by moon, whose love is all-inclusive, whose heart is a tent big enough for all to shelter under.

“if love is not the answer then we just asked the wrong question.”—wookiefoot

FYI: the element of both the ninth tithi & moon is water. water = emotions. if emotions run high today, take some time to feel into & process them—but beware falling into the trough of despond! (if you, like me, were born on a monday on the ninth tithi, this is familiar territory.)

& that’s your daily bliss! which is a sort of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss.
