it’s wednesday, april 29, moon is in virgo, moving from the starspace called hastā into citrā midday, it’ll be the fourteenth phase of the waxing moon just after i post this, & it’s mercury’ day.

virgo‘s sanskrit name is kanya, which means “maiden” or “virgin,” thus the association with the purity of our body, keeping it unsullied, protected from invasion by disease, being on the offensive by being defensive. which can be carried to extremes, can make us OCD, perfectionistas, & why all-controlling virgo is opposite all-surrendering pisces, this axis inviting us to do our best & let god do the rest.

both hastā & citrā are connected to creativity, to manifestation & to being conduits for spirit. hastā invites us to remember that we are not the doers, but vehicles for the divine flowing through us & out through our hands. citrā invites us to bring an idea out of the ether down to earth, morph it from conception into reality, create something useful & beautiful, that shines & endures.

“to make something well is to give yourself to it, to seek wholeness, to follow spirit. to learn to make something well can take your whole life. it’s worth it.”—ursula k. le guin

the great wall of china, built as a fortification against invading hordes (very virgo!), to preserve the country’s purity (!), was constructed in sections, from the seventh century BC through the ming dynasty (1368–1644), throughout a huge chunk of china’s lifetime. you may question whether it’s beautiful, but surely not that it’s been useful or that it has endured.

what do you want to make well? can you trust spirit? are you willing to let it take as much time as necessary?

the fourteenth lunar day (tithi), the fourteenth phase of the waxing moon, is ruled by goddess kali &, perhaps not surprisingly, has a quality of self-sacrifice, of taking no prisoners when it comes to self-purification (!), being willing to burn any- & everything up in the sacrificial fire. as this is the penultimate tithi before the full moon we may be feeling full to bursting, may need to let something go lest we explode. what is that for you? how can you anchor into your inner kali & be ruthless, uncompromising?

wednesday is ruled by thinky-talky mercury, who is moving from pisces, where our thought & communication processes may have been muddled, where we may have been deluded, into aries, where sun’s light will bring clarity. but this crossing is a treacherous one & can bring karmic issues to the surface. so mind your mental activity & speech through friday.

“the problem with delusion is that we are often so deluded we can’t even see that we are deluded!”—barry gillespie

& that’s your daily bliss! which is a sort of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss.
