it’s wednesday, february 11, moon is in scorpio, in the starspace called jyeṣṭḥā, it’s the tenth phase of the waning moon & mercury’s day.

scorpio is where we get to navigate the road from fear to fearlessness, take risks rather than play it safe, jump rather than sit still. like lindsey vonn, who ruptured her ACL in a training run ten days before her olympic bid but showed up at the gate on sunday, ready for whatever. unfortunately, “whatever” was a devastating crash & airlift off the course for orthopedic surgery.

“we dream. we love. we jump. & sometimes we fall,” lindsey said philosophically afterward.

or, as investment guru mellody hobson has said, “the biggest risk of all is not taking one.”

jyeṣṭḥā means “eldest” & is ruled by indra, chief, or eldest, among the gods, & whose name is connected to our indriyas, our sense organs. this nakshatra brings a lesson about mastering ourself before we try to master others, to get our own senses under control before we try to control, exert our authority over others.

the tenth lunar day (tithi), the tenth phase of the waning moon, is connected to doing our dharma, the thing we are here to do that we can’t not do, that no one else can do the way we can. it may or may not be your career, like skiing for lindsey. it may be your dharma to be the nicest, most compassionate person ever. it may or may not earn you a living, but:

“i think if you’re lucky enough to find out that you have a gift, & you’re lucky enough to find out what that is, & to be able to even make a living at it, then I think it is your job […] to nurture it, & to protect it, & to work with people who deserve to work with your gift.”—catherine o’hara

what gift is it yours to work with, to nurture?

wednesday is ruled by mercury, who loves to cogitate & communicate & is squished up against rahu, who loves to confuse & play contrarian, in aquarius, in the starspace called śatabhiṣak, today.

which means: both the possibility to think outside the box, see things from a different perspective, & also the possibility to miscommunicate, not see things clearly. śatabhiṣak is the star of healing but also of secrecy & is ruled by rahu, who can deceive—he is, after all, the thief in the night.

best to be clear about our motives, not to keep any pertinent thoughts hidden, from ourselves or others, when we open our mouth or put pen to paper (or fingers to keypad) today.

& that’s your daily bliss! which is a sort of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss.
