The Bliss Molecule

it’s wednesday, january 28, & moon is in taurus, in the starspace called rohiṇī.

taurus is ruled by venus, who is our most human experience, the IN-joy-ment of all the sensual pleasures that come with embodiment. these pleasures bring temporary, momentary tastes of bliss, leave us always wanting more, wanting the bliss to never end, b/c venus is our desire nature. but/& never-ending bliss is the ultimate venusian experience, the desire for never-ending bliss perhaps the only legit desire, the only one that doesn’t keep us tethered, attached, creating more karma.

forever bliss can come only when we realize our material desires are not the vehicle & we surrender.

the sanskrit word for bliss is ananda & our bodies actually contain anandamide, a neurotransmitter that mitigates stress, regulates mood, promotes homeostasis & feelings of joy. it is, in fact, called “the bliss molecule.”

the cause of bliss is not in a piece of chocolate or a new car or [fill in the blank], is not external, but internal, always available at no charge. how cool is that?

rohiṇī’s superpower is growth, as in fertility, creativity, & is moon’s favorite place, where we feel most emotionally cozy. it is ruled by brahma, the ur creator, who, after creating his daughter rohiṇī went & fell in love with her. yikes! cosmic incest was not a good look, fomented a lot of jealousy, & brahma got smacked down by the other gods as a result. this nakshatra brings a lesson about using our powers of creativity well, not letting them get out of hand lest we foment jealousy in others.

it’s the eleventh lunar day (tithi), the eleventh phase of the waxing moon, when the mind is said to be the least bizzy & buzzy & so the most receptive (to bliss!), which is why it’s the best tithi for spiritual practices, like fasting or meditation.

neem karoli baba, perhaps most famously ram dass’s guru, told his disciples to meditate like christ. according to ram dass, “when asked how christ meditated, he said, ‘he lost himself in love.’ “—from being ram dass

love is unity consciousness, christ consciousness, the ocean of never-ending bliss.

wednesday is ruled by mercury, whose mantra is, “just the facts, ma’am,” doesn’t let emotions sway him, doesn’t spin & obfuscate, would never lie like the lying liars in government (any & all admins—i’m an equal opportunity accuser!), who aren’t even good liars, who tell blatant falsehoods right to our faces.

& that’s your daily bliss! which is a sort of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss.
