it’s monday, august 11, & moon is in aquarius, in the starspace called pūrvabhādra. aquarius vibrates with the frequency of humanity, of the global village. it’s where we understand that we are one among many, part of a vast organism, just as one aspen tree is rooted & connected to a colony of aspens that function as one ginormous organism. just as aspens communicate vibrationally, so do we—every thought, word & action is a vibration, reverberates beyond us, affects the entire organism called humanity. aquarius invites us to consider & take responsibility for our impact on the world around us, be conscious of it, to remember (b/c two nature metaphors are better than one!) that we are all butterflies whose wing beats can affect the weather far, far beyond us.
“the deeper the realization of a man, the more he influences the whole universe by his subtle spiritual vibrations, & the less he himself is affected by the phenomenal flux.”—swami sri yukteswar
pūrvabhādra brings a lightning flash of “aha!”—of inspiration & insights, the potential for deep transformation. this asterism is ruled by aja ekapad, the cosmic form of agni, the sacred fire of purification. it is associated with our root chakra, where our sacred fire, kundalini shakti, sleeps until ignited. this asterism is endowed with the fire to lift us up spiritually, to raise our aspirations, our spiritual bar. transformation doesn’t come without effort, without purification, without laying the groundwork through discipline.
it’s the second lunar day (tithi), the second phase of the waning moon, which supports us with pride, helps us fan our spark of creativity, of inspiration, into a fire (contained! focused!) that grows & spreads. this tithi resonates well with both monday & pūrvabhādra, making it doubly, or, um, triply powerful.
monday is ruled by moon, planet of compassion, inclusion & unconditional love, the all-accepting & all-protective kind a mother has for her child.
in the eighteenth chapter of matthew, jesus reminds his followers to keep children safe, to make sure no harm comes to them: “if anyone causes one of these little ones … to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck & to be drowned in the depths of the sea.”
seems to me the children of the world need our protection now more than ever.
& that’s your daily bliss! which is a sort of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss.
