it’s wednesday, march 4, moon is in virgo, in the starspace called uttaraphālgunī, it’s the second phase of the waning moon & mercury’s day.

virgo vibrates with the frequency of perfectionism. its sanskrit name, kanya, means “maiden” or “virgin,” which is a state of purity, of perfection. as the sixth sign of the natural zodiac, virgo is also concerned with disease, debts, obstacles (including people). when we don’t keep our body-mind-life shipshape, unsullied, there can be consequences: if we don’t eat well, get decent exercise & rest, we might get sick; if we overspend there may not be enough money in our account to pay bills; if we don’t get the sprinklers blown out before winter, the pipes may freeze & burst & flood the basement.

mercury, who rules virgo, wants to get everything right, which is an awesome quality. the downside is thinking that “perfect” exists & holding ourself to that standard, becoming supercritical of ourselves & others, which can be paralyzing &/or annoying.

“one of the basic rules of the universe is that nothing is perfect. perfection simply doesn’t exist. … without imperfection, neither you nor i would exist.”—stephen hawking

or, as leonard cohen famously sang, the cracks are where the light gets in; they’re what make us human.

can you clean up your act without becoming obsessive-compulsive?

uttaraphālgunī is ruled by aryaman, who blesses contracts, especially but, not necessarily, those made for marriage. the previous nakshatra, pūrvaphālgunī, where full moon/lunar eclipse was yesterday early early morning, is ruled by bhaga, the god of delight, of pleasure, & our invitation was to ask ourselves whether what/whom we delight in is taking us to our ultimate goal or just bringing temporary pleasure/distraction. the goal of marriage & other binding agreements with others is long-term pleasure, a mutually beneficial relationship. we test the waters in pūrva, commit in uttara. if we make a commitment based on the best interests of both/all parties, aryaman will bless us & them.

the second lunar day (tithi), the second phase of the waning moon, is governed by the earth element, thus has a grounding quality. the first tithi is governed by fire, sparking desire/inspiration/a new vision. whatever we were lit up about yesterday gets solidified today, the spark gets to grow … in a contained, not out-of-control wildfire, kinda way.

wednesday, like virgo, is ruled by objective, analytical, communicative mercury, who, as the switzerland of the planets, doesn’t let emotions or biases (which, hey, he doesn’t have) interfere with his thought process & thus his speech—he just tells it like it is, gently, undramatically, b/c that’s how he rolls.

& that’s your daily bliss! which is a sort of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss.
