it’s tuesday, december 9, & moon is in cancer, in the starspace called aśleṣā until almost 2 p.m. MST, then leaps into leo & the starspace called maghā. cancer is ruled by the moon, the queen of the zodiac, & is maternal, the sign of the divine feminine, of unconditional love, of feeling all our feels, of heart connection with our people. leo is ruled by the sun, the king of the zodiac, & is paternal, the sign of the divine masculine, who shows his love by protecting, by taking action, by taking responsibility for his realm & the beings who dwell in it.
cancer says, “home is where the heart is”; leo says, “i take my dominion seriously.”
we are, none of us, either all feeling or all doing, maybe one or the other to a greater extent, but, still, both/&.
how do you express your feminine & your masculine, your queenliness & your kingliness? do you wear both crowns comfortably?
the border between cancer & leo, as between all water & fire signs, is a no-asterism zone; planets have to make the journey from one sign to another without starry support. it’s where a bit of karma still tied up in a knot may ask to be unknotted, resolved. so mind the gap, be gentle with yourself.
aśleṣā is ruled by the nagas, who, like the divine serpents they are, like to slither into the nooks & crannies of our consciousness, reveal secrets, transform our shadow into wisdom. they ask us what we are clinging to, whether our attachments—to people, ideas, situations, emotions—serve our highest purpose or not. are you ready for a big reveal? are you ready to shed?
maghā is ruled by the pitris, our ancestors, all those who came before us, especially, but not necessarily, our genealogical ones. this asterism reminds us that we stand on the shoulders of all those who came before us & bushwhacked the path for us, showed us the way, allowed us to go further than they did. be grateful. honor them.
it’s the sixth lunar day (tithi), the sixth phase of the waning moon, which supports us with the power to give form to our dreams. if yesterday we put a bull’s-eye on our goal, today we get to make it real, tangible. & this tithi + tuesday is a combo that yields nectar—sweeeet!
tuesday is ruled by mars, who gives us the courage to take righteous action, the discipline to be the spiritual warriors we are. spiritual warriorship means fighting our own demons, the enemies within, rather than projecting them onto others & turning others into enemies.
