it’s friday, september 19, & moon is in leo, in the starspace called maghā. leo vibrates with the frequency of our sovereignty, of being the “supreme repository of power,” as merriam-webster puts it, in our personal realm. leo invites us to be the light, to shine our light, to be beacons for & take responsibility for our people.
leo’s sanskrit name is simha, which means “lion,” “hero,” or “eminent person.”
a group of lions is a pride & pride can be a tragic flaw, the downfall of a sovereign, of the leader of people.
the bhagavad gita reminds us that “whatever action a great man performs, common men follow. & whatever standards he sets by exemplary acts, all the world pursues.” (chapter 3, verse 21)
with ketu in leo for the foreseeable future, we are invited to reassess our relationship to power & how we wield it, to contemplate our ability to shine, to lead by example, to ask how we can be humble sovereigns.
maghā means “mighty” & is ruled by the pitris, our ancestors, which, if you want to get technical, extend all the way back to adam & eve, to the first humans, with whom everyone, all of humanity, shares, you might say, parentage. we are both free spirits & tethered to all souls everywhere, past, present & future. maghā reminds us that we are here only b/c of all those who came before us & that just as their thoughts, words & actions contributed to shaping our lives so ours will contribute to shaping the lives of those who come after us.
is that not humbling?
how would you act, how would you wield your power if you really took into consideration its impact going forward, reaching far, far, far into the future, into how many lives you might touch?
it’s the thirteenth lunar day (tithi), the thirteenth phase of the waning moon, until noon, then the fourteenth. the last three tithis are connected to turiya, the state of consciousness beyond this world. the thirteenth can accelerate our spiritual progress, but we have to beware not trying to go too fast too soon. the fourteenth brings more possibility for transformation, for sacrificing our own ego (hello, leo!) for the highest purpose, which is perhaps the ultimate expression of love. what gets to go?
friday is ruled by venus, planet of love & other earthly delights.
“love has the shape of water. it is simultaneously flexible & powerful. it can adapt & roar; it can also be silently nourishing.”—yung pueblo
& that’s your daily bliss! which is a sort of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss.
