it’s tuesday, october 14, & moon is in cancer, in the starspace called puṣya. the journey from gemini to cancer is one from the head to the heart. while gemini intellectualizes & analyzes, cancer feels & intuits. under the sway of gemini we take up something new; under the sway of cancer we decide what to give up & what to keep, what resonates: pickleball? soooo, yes! a new book club? not so much.
cancer is the fourth sign of the natural zodiac, which is associated with our physical home & how at home, at peace, we are in ourselves. it is ruled by the moon, who receives all of sun’s light, takes in everything, like a satellite dish. how we receive experiences, whether we accept or resist them, affects our sense of happiness, our emotional & physical security.
our first home was our mother’s womb, where we received physical nourishment & also took in, absorbed the experiences & memories of our mother & our maternal lineage.
what belongs to you & what to your mother or your maternal lineage? what isn’t yours to carry? what’s your heart frequency?
puṣya means “the nurturer” & is ruled by brihaspati, the priest. he is “the lord of expansion/vastness” & expands our mind with wisdom, our heart with compassion, nourishes & grows all that’s good, that’s divine in us. this asterism is sometimes represented by a cow’s teats, upon which her calf suckles, sometimes by a lotus flower, which grows out of the mud into extravagant beauty, overcomes the limitations of its circumstances, processes & uses them to its advantage.
where might you be stuck in the mud of your limiting beliefs? what might you grow if you could keep your mind as open as a satellite dish to receive divine wisdom?
it’s the ninth lunar day (tithi), the ninth phase of the waning moon, which is ruled by the nagas, the celestial serpents who help us deal with negativity & limiting beliefs, transform them into wisdom by facing them down, asking what the heck they are here to teach us. it is also the birth tithi of lord rama, who reminds us of the importance of home, family & lineage. there is a lot of confluence of energies today!
tuesday is ruled by mars, our inner action hero. a hero was, mythologically, “endowed with great strength, courage, or ability, favored by the gods, & often believed to be of divine or partly divine descent.” it’s a good day to feel into & embody those qualities.
& that’s your daily bliss! which is a sort of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss.
