it’s sunday (you’re welcome!), february 1, & we have a full-as-full moon in cancer, in the starspace called aśleṣā, at about 3 p.m. MST. full moon in cancer means sun is opposite, in capricorn. hanging out with sun are mars, venus & mercury, all also sending their gaze to moon. & we are entering the portal before the solar eclipse, on february 17. let’s unpack all that!

full moon is the halfway point of the lunar cycle that began two weeks ago with new moon in capricorn. capricorn invites us to take our responsibilities & duties seriously, to be practical, establish structures.

cancer is the sign of maternal devotion, unconditional love, the divine feminine, whose ultimate power is intuition, heart-knowing.

capricorn wants material success, cancer spiritual success. it’s not one or the other, but both/&.

capricorn is rigid, cancer flow.

if you’ve been too strict with yourself, chafing under self-imposed rules/expectations, this is your opportunity to course-correct, to ask, “what do i want to do?” rather than, “what should i do?”

aśleṣā is ruled by the nagas, mystical, magical serpentine creatures associated with transformation, concealment & kundalini, the source of potential spiritual energy that lies coiled at the base of our spine, dormant, sleeping like a log, waiting to be woken up.

sometimes we wake up, kundalini rises, with the speed of a cobra strike, which, at 48 to 84 milliseconds, is faster than the blink of an eye (200 milliseconds). if we’re not prepared, haven’t laid the groundwork, it’s generally not a great experience, can feel like a psychic nuclear explosion. thankfully for most of us, waking up is a gradual process, one slow reveal after another.

aśleṣā clings, entwines, embraces, boa-constricts, hugs like its life depends on it. its superpower is the power to both inflict & remove poison, to defang it, transform it into wisdom, to destroy enemies & remove obstacles.

let’s face it, if we are not soldiers in a conflict zone or involved in a fraught lawsuit, our enemies/obstacles are pretty much not “out there” but “in here,” are self-manufactured, mental constructs. they are our negative tendencies & limiting beliefs, the self-criticisms that paralyze us like snake venom.

what thoughts, stories, people, emotions, situations are you clinging to for dear life? what are you afraid would happen if you let go? what truths are you concealing from yourself?

the nagas invite us to think less, feel more, feel more in the sense of trusting our intuition. cancer is, after all, the seat of our third-eye chakra.

mercury, venus & mars are still combust (feeling sun’s heat up close & personally). mercury, who rules aśleṣā, loves the truth but, especially when combust, has a tendency to spin stories/narratives, take us down rabbit holes, make us spiral mentally out of control. not to mention that his thinky energy is at odds with feely moon’s.

mars is exalted in capricorn, which means that our ability to get stuff done has been on high, but combustion can also bring frustration & irritation.

venus has been feeling the heat of sun’s rays as well, bringing the potential to purify/clarify relationships or make us critical & judgy, exasperated with our people.

results may vary!

the stellium of planets in capricorn can make us feel like we’ve got too many balls in the air, bring overwhelm—where am i supposed to focus?! how am i going to get it all done?! sorry to say, but that feeling ain’t goin’ away anytime soon, as that posse of planets will corral themselves together in aquarius as well, where the solar eclipse will be in two-ish weeks.

if you have planets within a degree or two of the eclipse degree, 4° capricorn (in dhaniṣṭā), you could receive the gift of big reveals, nuggets of transformative wisdom. it’s not too soon, especially for you, but for all of us, to star paying attention to what arises.

i’ll leave you to ponder how the following might resonate with you, how it might give you a hit of wisdom, wake up something in you:

“i achieve the most when i attach to outcomes—cling to, try to control them—the least!”

wishing you a most blessed & transformative full moon!

& that’s your daily bliss! which is a sort of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss.
