it’s friday, october 10, & moon is in taurus, in the starspace called rohiṇī. taurus vibrates with the frequency of life’s comforts, which, until they are not, are material ones—like having a home & a job to pay for that home; like having clothes on our back & food in our fridge, perhaps another vaca on the calendar. taurus shows us what we value & how we create value in our life. it is about what we desire, what makes us happy. the paradox is that we are often happy only when our desires have been fulfilled, when we no longer crave, want—& how long does that last?!
in a recent new yorker essay, rachel kushner wrote: “missing out is not necessarily a bad thing. having everything we want would leave us nothing to desire, to hope for, to expect. we need both the reassuring delusion of what we imagine, & a reality that can’t deliver it. life’s pleasures are, in part, pleasures we never partake in.”
can you take pleasure in missing out? in what you don’t have as well as what you do?
rohiṇī is ruled by prajapati, the primordial creator, which is why this asterism’s superpower/shakti is growth, great fertility & creativity. but/& it can also inspire jealousy (we’ll have to get to that another day) as a result—whoops! prajapati, who generated the whole world with his body, reminds us that so can we. dwelling in the heart of steady (stubborn?!) taurus, rohiṇī can also make us too attached to our desires, to what we create, so we get to be mindful, careful about where our mind goes, what ideas are arising.
it’ll be the fifth lunar day (tithi), the fifth phase of the waning moon, when you read this, which is, like rohiṇī, ruled by the moon & likewise lights our fire of creativity (& desire!). this tithi has the quality of lakshmi, which brings prosperity, luck & the ability to focus on & achieve our goal. as soon as lakshmi saw vishnu, she knew he was the one & focused her precious faculties of intention on him. what would embodying your inner lakshmi look like for you? who/what might you target?
friday is ruled by venus, planet of our earthly delights, who also rules taurus, so we get to double our venus delights, double our fun (who remembers doublemint gum?!), doubly fulfill our desires, do our happy today, perhaps all the while bearing in mind that those pleasures exist only in the moment, won’t last forever. just saying!
& that’s your daily bliss! which is a sort of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss.
