it’s wednesday, july 23, & moon is in gemini, in the starspace called punarvasu. gemini is, in vedic astrology, represented by a couple, the binary kind, a man & a woman. the man is shown holding a mace, the woman a musical instrument, like a lute. masculine & feminine, warrior & healer—we are not one or the other, but both/&. albert einstein, one of my fave geminis, perhaps best exemplified the paradox of being human. having been instrumental in developing the atomic bomb, later in life he became an avid peace activist—to such an extent that he was actually on the FBI’s watch list!

gemini’s ruling planet, mercury, gave him the intellectual curiosity to pull the theory of relativity out of the ether of his imagination (his mercury was in pisces) with the unintentional consequence of birthing the first weapon of mass destruction.

is it any wonder that his conscience led him to make amends?

with mercury now retrograde, it’s a good idea to pause & reflect before we act on our ideas, lest we, too, have to deal with unintended consequences.

punarvasu means “the return of the light” & is ruled by aditi, the mother of all that is, mother nature herself. nature grows through repetition—the sun coming out every day to photosynethesize plants, for starters. this asterism invites us to reflect on our own repetitive patterns & routines, on which ones serve us & which don’t & to rise above the ones that don’t, let them go.

aditi means “unbounded,” “undivided,” as in the vastness of ether, the space out of which everything arises & is received with acceptance. aditi says, “all is welcome here, no judgment.” the downside of all-inclusivity comes when we have to make a choice & can’t, b/c all options are equally on the table, b/c we are too much in our heads, in the ether. punarvasu gives us the power to manifest if we can ground, be realistic & practical.

it’s the fourteenth lunar day (tithi), the fourteenth phase of the waning moon, which means we have a dark moon, new moon, tomorrow, in cancer, which is deeply connected to our family of origin. it’s not too early to ponder emotional patterns (!) connected to your lineage. what are you still carrying? what still needs to heal? what are you grateful for?

wednesday is, like gemini, ruled by mercury, so do review & revise if necessary before you open your mouth or hit “send.”

& that’s your daily bliss! which is a sort of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss.
