it’s monday, april 13, moon is in aquarius, in the starspace called śatabhiṣak, it’s the eleventh phase of the waning moon & moon’s day.
aquarius vibrates with the frequency of humanity, of the global village. it’s where we feel a sense of responsibility for the world around us, want to make a difference, nudge it toward the world we want to see—whether that “world” is our community, our country or the whole dang planet.
“the scale of challenge we face is immense,” piera gelardi quotes journalist sophia li saying in a recent suleika jouad substack. “but if we keep being doom & gloom, saying it’s a ‘dumpster fire,’ we’ll get mired in that pessimistic belief & inaction.” sophia goes on to mention harvard prof erica chenoweth’s research revealing that “it only takes the active & sustained participation of 3.5 percent of a population to create serious social change.
“think about that,” she says, “just 3.5 percent of people, dreaming up a different existence & acting on it. that’s all it takes to reshape the world”!!!
if effecting positive change in the world feels more daunting now than ever (!), put that in your pipe & smoke it!
śatabhiṣak means “100 healers/medicines/doctors” & is ruled by varuna, god of oceans & the atmosphere, as in our interior atmosphere, the ocean of our consciousness. he invites us to feel into our boundlessness rather than be imprisoned/limited by our negative tendencies/poisonous thoughts (more below!), to not judge but to accept them, which is the first step in the healing process.
the eleventh lunar day (tithi), the eleventh phase of the waning moon, is ruled by goddess nilapataka, whose name means “she who is always falling into the blue.” nila = “blue” (pat is the sanskrit verb that means “to fall”) & refers to the poison (halahala) that rose to the surface during the churning of the milk ocean, which shiva gallantly slurped up & held it in his throat so no one else had to drink it.
that’s why he’s called nilakanta (kanta = “throat”) & why this tithi is associated with destruction & transformation, the process of achieving moksha/liberation. & the fact that our mind is said to be the least bizzy & buzzy during this lunar phase means that when our poisons rise to the surface of our consciousness we can bring more awareness to them, accept & transform (heal!) them so we can evolve. this can be an intense process, so pace yourself!
monday is ruled by all-feeling, all-connecting, all-compassionate, all-kind, all-inclusive, nonjudgmental moon. how can you tap into those qualities today?
& that’s your daily bliss! which is a sort of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss.
