it’s monday, february 12, & moon is in pisces, in the starspace called uttarabhadra. pisces vibrates with the frequency of the cosmic ocean, of what lies beyond our material, earthbound existence. it is where we get to, or desire to, experience the truest true nature of reality, of the reality of our existence. it is where, to borrow from rumi, we can experience being both the ocean in a drop & a drop in the ocean, being the whole & a part of it.
uttarabhadra, like its counterpart, purvabhadra, brings auspiciousness (bhadra). purva (former) brought fire in the form of lightning, uttara (latter) showers us with water in the form of rain. fire purifies, water nourishes. purva gives us “aha!” moments, insights into the true nature of reality, of who we really are & what we are doing here; uttara grows that seed of inspiration. the connection between these two asterisms may remind you of the pairing of purvashadha & uttarashadha (& both purvas are ruled by ethereal, dreamy jupiter, both uttaras by earthy, get-‘er-done saturn). the ashadhas, however, still deal with the material realm, whereas the bhadras take us beyond the material into the spiritual. uttarabhadra brings a message about doing something with any lightning flashes of insight we got yesterday, not wasting them, taking them for granted.
it’s the fourth lunar day (tithi), the fourth phase of the waxing moon, which is considered auspicious only for acts of purification, for our spiritual evolution, so we may (!) feel thwarted in our material efforts. of course we can use obstacles as a means of purifying our mind, shifting our energy, turning the negative into a positive. i was soaking in glenwood springs last week & ordered a hummus sandwich at a cafe. it arrived with, i kid you not, a mere tablespoon of hummus to satisfy my hunger—good luck with that! but then i realized that it was up to me to be annoyed & disappointed or to be grateful that it came with crunchy, vitamin-rich cukes & peppers. disappointment or gratitude? both &? what’s more interesting/extraordinary? how do you think i rolled? our perceptions create our reality. how can you purify your perceptions to create a more auspicious reality for yourself?
monday is ruled by the moon, whose mantra might be, “see me, feel me, touch me, heal me.”
& that’s your daily bliss! which is a sort of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss.
