it’s thursday, december 25 (merry xmas, y’all), & moon is in aquarius, in the starspace called śatabhiṣak. aquarius is no grinch when it comes to humanity, when it comes to smacking down for the greater good. opposite leo, where we stand in our own power, aquarius is where we understand that we are more powerful together than alone. aquarius vibrates with the frequency of the satsang, the sangha, the kula, of community. it’s where we value the importance of good company & so do what we can to keep it going, serve our community.
satsaṅgatve niḥsaṅgatvaṁ niḥsaṅgatve nirmohatvaṁ
nimohatve niścatatvaṁ niścatatve jīvanmuktiḥ
“by keeping the right company, we become free from the wrong company. by getting free from the wrong company we are able to get out of delusion. by getting out of delusion, we are able to see the essential nature of everything. by seeing the essential nature of everything we attain true inner freedom.”—adi śankarācārya
who is your sangha, your right company, the community that keeps you healthy in body-mind-spirit? what are you doing to keep your community strong, healthy?
śatabhiṣak, speaking of health, means “100 healers/medicines” & is ruled by varuna, lord of the cosmic & earthly waters. he is often depicted holding a pot of soma, the magical elixir drunk by the gods, the ambrosia that brought rejuvenation, intoxication & immortality, or at least an experience of it, the experience of our god nature, as deep meditation &/or plant medicine does. what plant was soma pressed from? no one knows for sure, but we know that water itself can be the elixir of life, as jimi hendrix sang:
blue are the life-giving waters taken for granted
they quietly understand
the planetary ruler of this nakshatra is rahu, a thinker outside the box if ever there was one. it’s a good day to think outside the box when it comes to our own healing or to healing others, &, of course, healing ourselves heals others, our community as well.
it’s the sixth lunar day (tithi), the sixth phase of the waxing moon, which gives us the strength, confidence & determination to make the goal we focused on yesterday real as real, tangible, as hard & brilliant, as indestructible, as a diamond.
thursday is ruled by jupiter, the cosmic teacher, who gives us the wisdom to see the big picture.
