it’s wednesday, march 11, moon is in scorpio, in the starspace, called jyeṣṭḥā until midmorning then leaps into sagittarius & the starspace called mūla; it’s the eighth phase of the waning moon & mercury’s day.
the move from scorpio to sagittarius can be one from despair to hope & the border between the two signs is a hard one, kinda like the great wall of china. the crossing isn’t easy, entails dealing with a bit of unresolved karma that arises seemingly out of nowhere like a ghost going “boo!”

jyeṣṭḥā & mūla are the nakshatras on either side of this border, but neither transports the moon as it crosses from one sign to the other, so the moon, our mind, feels unsupported, has to make the leap with faith, fly without a net. while jyeṣṭḥā (see yesterday’s post for more) is ruled by indra & brings a lesson about humility, mūla is ruled by niritti, who can kinda-sorta bring us to our knees ego-wise, take us to a whole new level of humility. for niritti invites us to not just prune back overgrowth but to yank out by the roots (mūla =“root”) outdated beliefs & unhealthy attachments, whatever is superficial & superfluous & taking up space in our lives we could put to better use, like aligning more deeply with our truth.

the eighth lunar day (tithi), the eighth phase of the waning moon, is half dark & half light & supports us in honoring/integrating/embracing our own darkness & light. the eighth tithi says, “all is welcome here.”

wednesday is ruled by mercury, whose fact-seeking nature & discriminating intelligence allow him to make logical decisions, not ones based on emotions or arrogance or attachments to unrealistic goals.
for example, it appears that the powers that be in our government ignored a national intelligence council assessment concluding that regime change in iran was unrealistic AF (excuse my french), & look what happened as a result. when you ignore intelligence, you get egg on your face, innocent people die, you put critical global relationships at risk & you drive up the price of oil. so much for a quick in & out—as in afghanistan, so in iran.
this pisses mercury off & it’s hard to piss him off!
mercury is now not only retrograde but combust the sun & hanging out with mars & rahu: our thoughts may be cloudy, awhirl in their own fog of war. it’s time to rethink, revise, reflect lest we get ourselves into an endless & pointless war with our people.
