it’s thursday, september 7, & moon moves from taurus into gemini just before noon mountain time while being supported & transported by the starspace called mrigashira. the transition from taurus into gemini is one from being good with the status quo to perhaps not so good. while taurus vibrates with the frequency of our comfort zone, gemini vibrates with the frequency of our curiosity zone. under the sway of gemini, we are done being comfortable & are ready to shake things up, explore other possibilities, whether they be new ideas or new people or new places, in order to know ourselves better, expand our sense of who we are. gemini is ruled by mercury, who gives us discriminating intelligence, allows us to know what we don’t know & seek answers.
“the sign of intelligence is that you are constantly wondering. idiots are always dead sure about every damn thing they are doing in their life.”—vasudev
mrigashira means deer (shira) head (mriga) & conveys the essence of the wandering deer, always seeking the next best thing, the next succulent morsel, the answer to their existential question. it gives us the power to find what we are seeking, if we are willing to do the work, make the effort—no pain, no gain! & of course efforting entails the opposite, surrendering, trusting in the benevolence of the universe, that all will be provided, allowing grace, &, hey, it’s jupiter’s day & jupiter’s sanskrit name is guru, who blesses us with grace, among other things.
it’s the ninth lunar day, the ninth phase of the waning moon, which brings serpent energy. serpents contain both toxins (think rattlesnakes) & wisdom, both pain & the elixir that removes the pain. in this case, we’re talking psychic pain brought on by our attachments to what doesn’t serve us—people, ideas, habits. we get to extract the wisdom, by asking ourselves what our attachments want to teach us & then heroically unattaching ourselves from them, making the effort, doing the work. it’s a good day to ponder what we are boa-constricted to & if it’s anything less than, say, love, to loosen their slimy grip on us.
thursday is ruled by jupiter, planet of hope & optimism, which are not the same thing. to hope is “to cherish a desire with expectation”; optimism is “a doctrine that the goods of life overbalance the pain and evil of it and that life is preponderantly good.” what fills you with hope? what are you optimistic about?
& that’s your daily bliss! which is a sort of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss.
