it’s thursday, january 29, & moon is in gemini, in the starspace called mṛgaśira, it’s the twelfth tithi & it’s jupiter’s day.

taurus, where moon has been, vibrates with the frequency of our comfort zone & can make us feel stuck, like a bull up to his hips in mud, unable to overcome inertia—i mean, come on, that couch is toooo cozy, toooo deep to extract ourselves from, that novel tooo riveting, that cup of tea & the brownies that go with tooo delicious to put down, right?

fortunately gemini frees us from our pleasant paralysis, as it vibrates with the frequency of curiosity—intellectual & otherwise. as the third sign of the natural zodiac gemini is where we discover who we are through the discovery process, starting when we are youngsters.

it’s where we are our own test subjects & the laboratory is life, where new variables (people, sports, art & other interests) are constantly introduced to the petri dish that is us.

what new something has motivated you to get off the couch? what new variable might you experiment with, add into the mix that is you?

mṛgaśira is ruled by soma, the elixir of immortality famously quaffed by the gods, & is represented by a deer, who straddles taurus & gemini, her back feet in one, front feet in the other. remember what i said yesterday about our desire for never-ending bliss & about bliss being an inside job? turns out that this poor deer is ever on a quest for the delicious perfume (musk) her own body is producing! she nibbles leaf after leaf, blade of grass after blade of grass hoping it’s going to be the one that ends her quest, satisfies her desire, her curiosity, brings on the forever bliss, i.e., immortality, once & for all. sound familiar?

it’s the twelfth lunar day (tithi), the twelfth phase of the waxing moon, which being the purest expression of the earth element brings artha, the ability to accumulate spiritual or material wealth. but/& it doesn’t just drop from the sky; it comes as a result of our prayers, as a result of doing our practices, making effort: if we prayed hard yesterday, we’ll experience the fruit today.

thursday is ruled by jupiter, who gives us our beliefs, which are ideally, but not necessarily, based on “first principles,” are unwavering, unconditional. for example, if we believe in free speech or gun ownership (both constitutionally given rights), then we don’t equivocate when someone (or some party) expresses/espouses an opinion, uses words, we don’t like, don’t think it’s OK to pack a pistol when one administration is in power but not another.

would your beliefs stand up to a first principles test?

& that’s your daily bliss! which is a sort of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss.
